Take it all in

We are here! We landed in Port au Prince an hour later than planned but thankfully our friends and hosts waited for us and got us through arrival smoothly!

Lynn is overjoyed to be out of the airport.

Our trip back from the airport to campus was slow (lots of traffic) but we were able to get a tour of the agriculture scene before dinner. We took a lot of videos for our students and learned a ton about chickens, tilapia, and #GOATS! (So many photos to come!)

Dinner was delicious and our accommodations we are referring to as the taj Mahal. We unpacked with the help of our 8 legged friends, the tarantulas. Seriously, I haven’t seen this many (when I wasn’t actively fishing for them). More photos to come with that as well…😉

Church was so wonderful. They did have an interpreter for the message (the pastor at Jean Jean church!), and this church had the words to the music projected so we could sing along in Creole & French. It was a beautiful morning. After church we walked home to prepare for the field trip (we took a school bus) to the beach.

The beach is Caribbean-breathtakingly beautiful, relaxing, and an adventure all at the same time. When the wifi cooperates again, I’ll share some photos just to remind you all exactly how beautiful this country is.

Our sweet friend Rinaldo rows us to the little island.

This is Haiti.

Don’t think we are just relaxing in tropical paradise… We are working in one too! Next post, teacher training! With the added bonus of air conditioning! Whaaaat!?
